Remedination
About
A nonprofit built on one idea: protection should arrive before the harm.
Why we exist
My dad worked at an aluminum smelter. When he started, nobody wore masks. Then the regulations changed, and they put on masks. Then again, and again, until it ended with full respirators. By then it was too late. Many of the men who started there ended there, and the end came too soon.
Protection kept arriving after the harm. At Remedination, we don't want to be catching up. Lives matter too much. We want to get ahead of the hazard, and stay there.
Mission
We automate hazardous waste vitrification to eliminate worker exposure, accelerate remediation, and prove that autonomous on-site processing can scale across America's legacy contamination sites.
What the name means
Remedination joins contamination, remediation and nation. Both words end in "nation", and that is the point: from contaminated sites to cleaned ones, and from one site to the nation.
Contamination to remediation to the nation.
What we believe
- Remove the person from the hazard. Machines should do the dangerous work.
- Design safety in beforehand. Safety is part of the design, not a later fix.
- Design to scale. Benefits should last across generations and reach many communities.
Organization
Remedination is a nonprofit in formation, based in Alabama. We are assembling a board, technical advisors and partners.
